Dispute on call to support BN candidate

SHAH ALAM -- The Kota Raja PAS Youth Movement (DPPKR) today questioned the move by the party last Saturday, which had been used as a platform to urge PAS voters to vote for the BN candidate in the by-election for the Sungai Kandis State seat this Saturday.   Its deputy head, Mohd Najib Arshad said the gist of the speech had openly been made by several party leaders at the Selangor state and federal level at the program called 'Bangkit', which appeared not to be in line with the official statement by PAS Secretary-General Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, regarding the by-election last July 22.   He said he also felt that the call contradicted the spirit of the PAS Constitution,  Clause 82 (g) which stated, all PAS members including the leadership should control themselves from committing any action that went against or was detrimental to the party's interest.   "The DPPKR is of the view that the decision (call) was policy in nature and thus had ignored the powers of...

MRT3 hanya ditangguh, bukan batal

"Sebarang keputusan besar sebegini, perlu mendapatkan keputusan kabinet.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said the people should be able to differentiate between  independence fighters and the communist movement.  "It is difficult to equate communist terrorists as freedom fighters in our history books. If it was the people's struggle to gain independence, that is a different question.  "The were some freedom fighters branded as communists like Dr Burhanuddin Helmi, Ibrahim Yaacob and Pak Sako (Ishak Muhammad). I don't think they subscribed to communist ideology. We have to separate the two (freedom fighters and communist terrorists)," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby, Bernama report.  He was commenting on a forum organised by Imagined Malaysia to discuss the role by played by the communist movement in the country and whether the government should rewrite the history of the Emergency years the country faced.  The Malayan Emergency was a guerrilla war fought against communist terrorists in pre- and pos...

Menurut Presidennya, Shu...
