100 days is not enought to put things right

BALAKONG --  DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government needs longer time to put things right as many malpractices had been bred by the previous administration. He said the new government was serious to end the 60 years of power abuse, corruption and inequality,  but it cannot be done in “two days”. “In order for the new Malaysia to see real changes, we need longer time to build on it. The 60 years of corruption, power abuse and inequality can't be cleaned in 100 days. “We must prove that in long term, our promises will be fulfilled. In that 100 days, (former prime minister) Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) has been ousted and charged in court. Many corrupted heads in government departments had been removed,” he told the morning crowd in a mini ceramah at Kampung Baru Balakong here today.  He was here to campaign for PH candidate Wong Siew Ki for the Balakong by-election.  Later, when addressing the public at the morning market in  Batu 11,

Another case of mismanagement of public funds exposes

PUTRAJAYA -- Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on Wednesday exposed what is believed to be another case of alleged mismanagement of public funds by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government. He claimed that the previous government failed to refund RM16.046 billion in overpaid income tax and property gains tax over the past six years, which was due to 1,653,786 companies, individuals, associations and foundations as of May 31 this year.  Lim said in a statement that the yet-to-be-refunded credit balance of the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) was due to a shortage in the transfer of the direct tax revenue to the Tax Refund Fund (TBBC) trust account. “Tax refunds can only be made based on the amount of money remaining in the TBBC. The balance in the TBBC as of May 31 this year was only RM1.486 billion based on the records of the Accountant-General’s Department. “This amount is much lower than the sum required for the refund of tax credit amounting to RM16.046 billion which should

Disiplin exco Perak perlu dibaiki - MB

Mengulas perkembangan berkaitan, Ahmad Faizal berkata kerajaan nege

Learn from China - Tun M

BEIJING – Malaysia needs to learn from China on how such a big country with 1.4 billion population can meet the needs of its people in term of foods, technology and employment, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The Prime Minister said China managed to provide enough food for its people, produced enough rice and exported it too. “Malaysia, with 30 million population, only manages to produce rice to meet 70 per cent of our needs even though the government provides subsidies and fertiliser,” he told Malaysian journalists at the end of his five-day official visit to China. Dr Mahathir visited the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Park here Tuesday. Malaysians could also learn online marketing in selling their products not only to the domestic market but also to the world, said Dr Mahathir when sharing his experience after visiting the Alibaba Group headquarters in Hangzhou on Saturday and meeting its co-fo
