KUALA LUMPUR -- Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Narkotik (JSJN) Bukit Aman mengenal pasti 30 jenis jenama minuman ringan, teh dan kopi pracampuran yang dipeketkan semula setelah dicampur dadah sebelum dijual di pusat-pusat hiburan untuk mengelirukan pihak berkuasa. Pengarahnya, Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh berkata berdasarkan kepada kajian dan siasatan sejak dua tahun lepas, pihaknya telah mengesan taktik sindiket-sindiket dadah ini melalui beberapa siri operasi serbuan di pusat-pusat hiburan di seluruh negara. “Antara dadah yang turut dikenal pasti dipasarkan dengan taktik sebegini adalah Eramin 5, ketamin, syabu dan ekstasi,” katanya dalam sidang media di Bukit Aman, lapor Bernama. KUALA LUMPUR -- Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has defended 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) former CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy’s RM5-million salary package. Bernama report, Najib said Arul Kanda had received a lower salary at 1MDB compared to that at his previous job at a bank in the United Arab Emirates. He said Arul Kanda took a big pay cut to join the state-owned company and had even successfully reduced its debt from RM50 billion to RM30 billion. “So, he has accomplished that part of his responsibility. PUTRAJAYA – Any form of recognition for the communists will be an insult to the nation’s warriors who had fought for the country’s independence, say veterans. Brigadier General (Rtd) Jamil Rais Abdullah said many of the country’s warriors were killed or injured during the fight against the communists, especially during the emergency between 1948 and 1960. “We feel the loss. Many of my friends were killed. SEREMBAN -- Nombor pendaftaran kenderaan edisi ‘Malaysia’ telah dibuka untuk bidaan mulai hari ini hingga 15 Ogos dengan harga tempahan minima RM10,000 bagi nombor 1 hingga 10. Australia belum terima permohonan ekstradisi Sirul Azhar

KUALA LUMPUR -- Australia hari ini berkata ia masih belum menerima sebarang permohonan dari Malaysia untuk mengekstradisi bekas anggota Unit Tindakan Khas (UTK) Koperal Sirul Azhar Umar yang memohon perlindungan di negara itu. No import declaration on 44 pieces jewellery linked to Rosmah

KUALA LUMPUR – There was no import declaration made to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) regarding the delivery of 44 pieces of jewellery linked to the wife of former prime minister Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor,  said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng. “From a check of the records available under the customs information system for seven years in line with the period of record keeping, it was found that there were no import declaration made on the jewellery,” he said when winding up the debate on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address for his ministry at the Dewan Rakyat sitting. According to Lim, it was an offence if no import declaration was made on imported items including seizing the goods brought in. “If police reports could not link the said consignment with any offence, the Customs can link it to the Customs Act 1967 as it is an offence and can lead to various actions including seizures,” he said. Illegal immigrants turns major cities into centre for imitation goods

LABUAN -- Illegal immigrants who turned entrepreneurs overnight have made major cities in the country centres for imitation goods, according to the Immigration Department. Its director-general, Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali, said the issue must be addressed effectively as the open sale of imitation goods reflected a poor image and embarrassment for the country. The immigrants who occupied premises where they conducted their business had been found to have not complied with the by-laws of the local councils from the aspect of cleanliness, nature of business and renovation. "I was with the Kuala Lumpur mayor recently on a recent inspection of business premises and we found premises illegally renovated for many types of business, including a small room equipped with a single bed for prostitution purposes," he said. SHAH ALAM -- Selepas hampir sebulan ditahan di Penjara Sungai Buloh, Ketua UMNO Sungai Besar Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos hari ini dibebaskan dengan ikat jamin RM20,000 dengan tiga penjamin berlainan oleh Mahkamah Tinggi di sini. Hakim Datuk Yazid Mustafa membuat keputusan itu selepas membenarkan permohonan Jamal yang diwakili peguam Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah untuk menyemak keputusan Mahkamah Majistret Ampang semalam yang membatalkan perintah ikat jamin yang diberikan kepada Jamal bagi dua pertuduhan menceroboh premis.
