Kelantan penerima bantuan kewangan terbesar

Jangan samakan sebat syariah dengan sebat sivil kerana i...

UIAM akur pelantikan Maszlee dibatal

Hundred per cent agreement is impossible - Tun M

KUALA LUMPUR -- Muslims in the country are reminded to be united in reaching a consensus to avoid disputes and hostility. Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said merely because of slight differences, Muslims practising the same religion and Islamic belief should not go to the extent of hating each other. “A consensus happens when something gets 100 per cent agreement from all parties, but that is something impossible. “Hence the other way is to take a majority decision and what is decided by the majority must be accepted with an open heart by the minority without any hue and cry,” he said in his speech at the 57th National Malaysian Islamic Welfare Assiociation (PERKIM) general annual meeting at Jalan Pahang. In that way, the Muslim community could move simultaneously as one with mutual respect and love such as enshrined in the Quran, he said, Bernama reported. He said said it could enable organisations and countries led by Muslims to run...

Ringgit will be traded at between RM4.09 and RM4.16 next week

KUALA LUMPUR -- The ringgit is likely to be exchanged cautiously amid aversion from risk-laden currencies and will be traded at between RM4.09 and RM4.16 against the US dollar next week, a dealer said. Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd Chief Economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said there is a risk aversion at the moment following fears over the contagious effect from Argentina, Turkey and South Africa alongside the expected imposition of tariffs by US President Donald Trump’s administration after the expiry of public comment yesterday. In the meantime, the Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) employment report is expected to show a healthy reading, suggesting that the US Federal Reserve will increase interest rates at the next Federal Open Market Committee meeting on Sept 26. “In that sense, emerging currencies assets and currencies are likely to be affected including the ringgit,” he told Bernama. But at least, Mohd Afzanizam said, Malaysia will not experience...

Bursa Malaysia to be slow down next week

KUALA LUMPUR -- Bursa Malaysia’s trading next week is forecast to slow down in the face of uncertainty in the emerging markets, escalating trade tensions and the extended weekend in the country, said dealers. Bank Islam chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said with investors remaining mindful of the external events, the FBMKLCI would linger around its resistance and support level of 1,805 and 1,776 respectively next week. “In addition, the US non-farm payroll data is expected to show that the labour market in the US remains solid, which necessitates a rate rise in the US, while the Federal Open Market Committee will meet on Sept 26. “The Fed is expected to deliver a 25 basis points hike in the Fed Fund Rate which currently stands at two per cent. This will add further pressure to emerging countries’ assets and currencies,” he told Bernama. For the week just ended, Bursa Malaysia moved between 1,795.2...
