Mekanisme salur dana bantu negeri pembangkang

KUANTAN, 5 Okt (Bernama) -- Kerajaan Pakatan Harapan sedang mengkaji satu mekanisme terbaik bagi menyalurkan dana pembangunan kepada empat negeri yang ditadbir oleh pembangkang untuk memastikan negeri berkenaan tidak ketinggalan dalam arus pembangunan negara. Menteri Hal Ehwal Ekonomi Datuk Seri Azmi Ali berkata adalah menjadi dasar kerajaan Pakatan Harapan untuk memastikan pembangunan yang dilakukan di semua negeri dilakukan secara adil dan saksama khususnya di negeri yang tertinggal dalam konteks pembangunan negara. “Walaupun ada negeri yang berada di bawah pentadbiran Barisan Nasional (BN) dan PAS, tetapi kita mesti dilihat berlaku adil untuk pembangunan di negeri berkenaan demi kepentingan rakyat. “Cumanya kita masih mengkaji mekanisme dan kaedah penyampaian yang sesuai untuk memastikan dana pembangunan itu disampai telus kepada rakyat yang memerlukan khususnya di kawasan luar bandar,”katanya. Swimming lessons in schools - Maszlee

PUCHONG -- The Education Ministry is currently in the discussion stage on the need to introduce swimming lessons in schools, says its Minister Dr Maszlee Malik. He said the proposal was mooted by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad following the increase in drowning incidents involving school students lately. The discussions also took into account the shortage of swimming pool facilities, especially for schools in rural areas, he said. “Swimming skills are very important among children. In Finland and Australia and a few other countries, swimming skills are taught in schools. “In private schools there are many that have already implemented compulsory swimming classes for their students and for the government schools, we will try to do it in stages,” he told after visiting the family of drowned student Muhammad Ilham Fahmy Mohammad Azzam. Government rejected RM100 million donations for Tabung Harapan

KUALA LUMPUR -- The government declined an unnamed firm’s RM100 million contribution to Tabung Harapan Malaysia on the belief it had ulterior motives, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The fund was started to consolidate attempts by Malaysians to donate money towards paying down the national debt after the new government asserted that this was over RM1 trillion. “Recently when a company donated RM100 million to TH; though it was only a donation, we did not accept it. “The company offering it had other intentions which is why we could not accept it,” he said, after chairing a Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting.

Tun M tak kisah dicop anti-Yahudi

KUALA LUMPUR -- Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad berkata beliau tidak kisah dengan tindak balas yang diterimanya selepas mengkritik kaum Yahudi. "Saya bercakap perkara benar, saya tak kisah apa yang orang nak gelarkan saya, termasuklah anti-Yahudi atau apa saja," katanya kepada pemberita selepas mempengerusikan  mesyuarat  Majlis  Presiden  Pakatan Harapan.
