PUTRAJAYA -- Treasury secretary-general Datuk Seri Ismail Bakar has been appointed the new Chief Secretary to the Government, taking over from Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa. Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad handed over the letter of appointment to Ismail at a brief meeting at his office in Perdana Putra. Ali’s contract of service as the chief secretary to the government ended today. He has served for over six years. Ismail, approached after his meeting with Dr Mahathir, said he would implement the Prime Minister’s instruction well to ensure efficient delivery of the public service. “In this era, we want to ensure that integrity and accountability are at the best level among the civil servants,” he said. PETALING JAYA -- Seorang pemandu Grab yang menggigit dan memukul  badan isteri kerana tidak menyediakan juadah berbuka puasa dihukum  penjara empat bulan oleh Mahkamah Majistret.    Majistret Nor Ariffin Hisham menjatuhkan hukuman itu terhadap Mohd Shahrin Mohd Mokhtar, 28, selepas dia mengaku bersalah dengan sengaja mencederakan Safizamira Sebri, 24, dengan cara menggigit, memukul serta menampar wanita itu sehingga luka di bahagian tangan, muka dan perut.    Mahkamah memerintahkan tertuduh menjalani hukuman penjara itu bermula hari ini.    Ibu tertuduh yang berada di galeri awam kelihatan menangis selepas mahkamah menjatuhkan hukuman ke atas anak lelakinya.    Bapa anak satu  itu didakwa melakukan perbuatan tersebut di sebuah unit di Koi Tropika Kondominium, Puchong, di sini pada pukul 3 petang, 30 Mei lalu mengikut Seksyen 323 Kanun Keseksaan dibaca bersama Seksyen 326A yang memperuntukkan hukuman p...
