Voters in Seri Setia and Balakong pick out their representatives

SHAH ALAM -- After 21 days of campaigning, 50,692 ordinary voters in Seri Setia and 62,160 others in Balakong are expected to cast their votes at their respective state by-elections Saturday. The voting centres in both the Selangor state constituencies will open from 8am to 5.30pm. There will be 18 polling centres with 115 channels in Seri Setia, while Balakong will see 16 such centres with 129 channels. The weather in Seri Setia is expected to be rainy in the morning and sunny in the evening while Balakong will be cloudy in the early part of the day and see clearer skies later, according to the  Malaysian Meteorological Department  Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Halimey Abu Bakar is facing Dr Halimah Ali from PAS in Seri Setia and in Balakong, the fight is between PH candidate Wong Siew Ki and Tan Chee Teong from the MCA. Mahkamah Syariah perlu berhikmah membuat keputusan

PUTRAJAYA -- Mahkamah Syariah dinasihatkan agar berhikmah dalam mengambil kira fakta kes dan faktor yang relevan dengan sesuatu kes melalui kuasa dan budi bicara mahkamah sebelum membuat apa-apa keputusan. Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa berkata ia bagi memastikan sebarang keputusan yang dibuat tidak dilihat tergesa-gesa kerana kesannya amat besar kepada imej Islam. Pelantikan Maszlee sebagai Presiden UIAM tidak sesuai

KUALA LUMPUR -- Pelantikan Menteri Pendidikan Dr Maszlee Malik sebagai Presiden Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) dianggap tidak sesuai memandangkan beliau kini memegang portfolio dalam Kabinet. Bekas Presiden UIAM Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim berkata sekiranya Maszlee terus memegang jawatan itu, dikhuatiri pandangan dan keputusan beliau melibatkan kepentingan universiti berkenaan  selepas ini akan dianggap berat sebelah.  “Kita bimbang 20 universiti tempatan lain akan mempersoal sekiranya UIAM dapat pandangan menteri, kami bagaimana? Proton SUV open for booking at RM1,000

KUALA LUMPUR -- National car maker, Proton Holdings Bhd, is adopting an alphanumerical naming system for its future models beginning with the X70, its first sport utility vehicle (SUV). Sales and Marketing Vice-President Abdul Rashid Musa said the letter X is synonymous with crossover or SUV vehicles, while the number 70 denoted the size or class of the SUV and would enable Proton to adopt a logical system to add bigger or smaller models in the future. “This is the first time an alphanumerical naming system is used on a Proton model as our research shows it will make it easier to sell in ASEAN and other international markets, as there are no language barriers to overcome,” he told reporters at the preview of the new SUV.
