100 days is not enought to put things right

BALAKONG --  DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government needs longer time to put things right as many malpractices had been bred by the previous administration.
He said the new government was serious to end the 60 years of power abuse, corruption and inequality,  but it cannot be done in “two days”.
“In order for the new Malaysia to see real changes, we need longer time to build on it. The 60 years of corruption, power abuse and inequality can't be cleaned in 100 days.
“We must prove that in long term, our promises will be fulfilled. In that 100 days, (former prime minister) Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) has been ousted and charged in court. Many corrupted heads in government departments had been removed,” he told the morning crowd in a mini ceramah at Kampung Baru Balakong here today.
He was here to campaign for PH candidate Wong Siew Ki for the Balakong by-election.
Later, when addressing the public at the morning market in  Batu 11, Cheras, Lim also urged the voters in Balakong to turn up in large number to vote in the by-election on Sept 8.
He said this was crucial as a show of continuous strong support for the PH government following the victory in the 14th general election.
“We want the spirit of May 9 to be kept alive. On that day, we did not just win the election, but we also kept our hope alive to see the creation of a new Malaysia.
“Besides, let it be a tribute to the late assemblyman Eddie, who had worked so hard and served so responsibly the people of Balakong,” he said.
More than 80 percent of its  62,219 registered voters in Balakong had voted in PRU14.
The by-election was called following the death of Eddie Ng in a road accident on July 20.
in another development, Lim said MCA could not be the agent of check and balance if it did not reform and detach itself from UMNO and controversies linked to the previous government including the 1MDB scandal.
“Check and balance is important but MCA is unsuited for the role if they do not reform and still linked to 1MDB and Najib,” he said in respond to the manifesto of MCA's candidate Tan Chee Teong who wanted to be the agent of check and balance in the two-third majority Selangor state assembly.

KUALA LUMPUR -- National car maker, Proton Holdings Bhd, is adopting an alphanumerical naming system for its future models beginning with the X70, its first sport utility vehicle (SUV). Sales and Marketing Vice-President Abdul Rashid Musa said the letter X is synonymous with crossover or SUV vehicles, while the number 70 denoted the size or class of the SUV and would enable Proton to adopt a logical system to add bigger or smaller models in the future. “This is the first time an alphanumerical naming system is used on a Proton model as our research shows it will make it easier to sell in ASEAN and other international markets, as there are no language barriers to overcome,” he told reporters at the preview of the new SUV. Proton Chief Executive Officer Dr Li Chunrong said Proton's adoption of the new naming system would make customer more focus on the brand name as compared with the model name.
