KUALA LUMPUR – The government is studying to rebrand the National Civics Bureau (BTN) so that the role and function of the agency will no longer be missed from the main objective of its establishment.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Md Farid Md Rafik said BTN will no longer be an agent that can be used by certain parties to ‘accentuate their own motives’.
“Along with sociopolitical changes and the spirit of new Malaysia, BTN is in the process of re-branding and discussions on BTN's rebranding is still ongoing.
"The review to develop its modules will emphasise the pursuit of noble values in life and return to the original objective of its establishment," he said when winding up the debate on the motion of thanks for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's speech on behalf of his ministry in the Dewan Rakyat.
He said the programme aims to bring more focus to foster self-esteem in terms of race, culture and values in ensuring national sovereignty.
He said there were four BTN objectives to increase knowledge and understanding about aspects of the state, government policies, current issues as well as applying the values.
