SHAH ALAM, -- A former TV3 newscaster and his son cheated death when fire broke out at their house this afternoon.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Baharuddin Mat Taib said in the 4.06pm incident at Jalan Landak, Seksyen 20 here, the victims, Nasharuddin Tajuddin, 57 and his 21-year-old son managed to escape through the back door.
The police received an emergency call from an individual informing the authority that his neighbour's house had caught fire.
Upon our arrival at the scene, we found three fire engines with the strength of 30 firemen have already arrived and successfully put out the fire, he said in a statement.
Baharuddin said the initial investigation found that fire was believed to have started from the front part of the house, probably due to the air-conditioning unit or the victim's vehicles.
The fire had destroyed parts of the house and the victims' two vehicles but no injuries reported.
