Jom Floria - the largest flower and garden festival in the region

PUTRAJAYA -- The Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival or Royal Floria Putrajaya (Floria) is now recognised as the largest flower and garden festival in the region, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said.
She said Floria received the recognition when it it was currently appointed to the Council of Asia Flower Exhibitions or CAFE established in South Korea.
“This is an honour for Floria which is now recognised as the largest flower and garden festival in the region,” she said in her speech during the launching of the Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018 festival here today.
The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah officiated the ceremony and spent two hours visiting the attractions on offer.

Dr Wan Azizah added that both the Federal Territories Ministry and Putrajaya Corporation worked hard to put Putrajaya as a destination on the World Flower Show Map and help Floria to receive 10 awards which were consistent with Floria's 10th-anniversary celebration, Bernama reported.
Among others, Floria was awarded the Creative Excellence Award at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in 2016 and the Malaysian Tourism Council Gold Award.
According to her, the flower festival attracted 300,000 visitors through its first edition in 2007 and the number of recorded visitors had always increased before recording 826,811 visitors in the 2016 edition.
Malaysia intended for Floria to be at par with the annual Dutch Tulip Festival in Keukenhof, The Netherlands that receives one million visitors from over 100 countries, Dr Wan Azizah added.
