KUALA LUMPUR -- Khazanah Nasional Bhd has appointed Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan as its new Managing Director.
He is scheduled to report for duty on Aug 20, 2018, said the sovereign wealth fund in a statement today.
Shahril, 48, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), having been appointed to the position on April 16, 2013. He was previously Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Investment).
Prior to joining the EPF, he was the Managing Director of Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd, where he was responsible for developing KL Sentral into one of the main commercial centres in Malaysia.
"Khazanah would also like to welcome the new Chairman and Members of the Board, whose appointments were announced by the Prime Minister's Office on July 30, 2018.
"In addition, Khazanah wishes to record its thanks and appreciation to the previous members of the board and former Managing Director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar for their service and contribution to Khazanah and the nation," the statement added, Bernama reported.
Nine directors of Khazanah Nasional, including its Azman and executive committee chairman Nor Md Yusof, resigned on July 26 to allow the new government to decide on a new leadership for the fund.
On July 30, it was announced that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was appointed Chairman of the board of Khazanah, with immediate effect.
Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, Dr Sukhdave Singh and Goh Ching Yin were also appointed directors of Khazanah.
