ARAU -- The bodies of three family members, who were believed to have drowned, were found in Sungai Arau-Tambun Tulang here today.
Perlis police chief SAC Noor Mushar Mohamad identified the victims as Norzalina Baharom, 35, and her parents, Norma Pin, 64, and Baharom Ahmad, 66, whose address were at 67, Jalan Seruling 2/1, Taman Seruling, Jalan Bakar Sampah, Sungai Petani, Kedah.
He said Norzalina’s body was found floating in the river by a local resident at about 8.35 am who then lodged a police report.
A police team that went to the scene then found three MyKads on the body, he said, adding that the cards were that of Norzalina, Norma and Baharom.
“Norma’s body was found at 10.18 am near Kampung Belat Raja, about two kilometres from where Norzalina’s body was found, while that of Baharom was found in the same river near Kampung Che Ok, at about 12.10 pm about 10km from where his wife’s body was found,” he told.
Noor Mushar said preliminary investigation by the police found no injury on the three bodies.
Police are now looking for the victims’ vehicles, he said, adding that the bodies had been sent to the Forensic Unit of the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar for post mortem.
He advised members of the public with information on the victims or the incident to contact the police.
